Decision‑making and Resistance to Change

Understanding Why, why now and what if not.

Who this is for:

Leaders who want to sponsor change (organisational, operational & tactical)

Boards assessing change scenarios and transition proposals

Managers implementing change

Typical scenarios:

New leadership changing ways of working and operational structures that might encounter resistance from boards, old leadership executives, and operational teams.

Leaders introducing adaptive organisational structures, leaning towards decentralisation, like Matrix, Network and Sociocracy and exploring Agile and Lean methodologies.

Boards evaluating priorities within a context of rapid changes and high-stakes decisions.

Managers navigating change fatigue, confusion and disengagement within teams.

  • Facilitated sessions to support individual executives as they introduce changes that generate complex or high‑stakes decisions. I create space to surface risks, perspectives and emotions, so decisions are both robust and owned by the executive leadership. The sessions help mobilise indecisiveness and work through resistance to change. They promote an understanding of the needs around change and enrich one vision with the entire structure’s perspectives facilitating buy-in and clarifying prioritization within Transition Plans.

These sessions can be specifically tailored to help the leadership team assess priorities, compounding decision effects, and reach agreements in times of uncertainty, volatility and complexity.

  • Governance specific workshops to navigate structural arrangements in line with strategic pivots. These sessions include facilitated decision‑making processes to make consequential choices while ensuring transparency, equity and respectful adherence to the organisation’s mission and values.

  • NonViolent Communication (NVC)

NVC is a communication framework based on universal human needs, used to diffuse conflict and improve understanding, collaboration and respectful interactions. Workshops introduce core concepts and offer practical tools teams can apply in everyday conversations.

    Breathing

Guided breathing exercises designed to calm altered nervous systems and help individuals regulate stress responses, particularly useful during periods of intense change and uncertainty.

    Self-Organisation

Workshops to help teams establish clear priorities and improve self‑organisation, so they can respond to change with focus and autonomy instead of overload and confusion. These workshops can be adapted to Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid project management methodologies.
